Soon to be declared National Park, the Sierra de las Nieves provides a fantastic mountain trail into the wild at short distance from Ronda. This is a private hike that takes us into one of the most unique forests of Andalucía, the "pinsapar".

NATURE

PLANTS: Spanish Fir is the iconic tree of the trail. We'll see an endemic subspecies of Gall Oak. Presence of Mistletoe and Hawthorn. Possibility of orchids in spring.

ANIMALS: presence of woodland birds such as Firecrest, Crossbill and Woodlark. Griffon Vulture. Mammals such as Wild Boar and Iberian Ibex are seen on 50% of our hikes.

We are flexible and will addapt to your needs and schedule. Recommended start times are:

Dec, Jan, Feb: 9:00am.

March: 8:30 am.

April: 8:00 am.

May: 7:00 am.

Oct, Nov: 8:30 am.

CONDITIONS

SAFETY: it is not allowed to leave the hiking trails.

ALTITUDE: we'll reach 1750 m / 5750 ft.

GROUP SIZE: this is a private hike in which we can provide comfortable transportation on a courtesy basis for up to 7 people plus 1 guide. If you are a larger group, please contact us.

AGE RESTRICTIONS: 5 and older to join this hike.

KIDS ON VEHICLES: please note you must bring a booster seat for your kids (recommended for kids shorter than 150 cm / 4 ft 11 in; compulsory for kids shorter than 135 cm / 4 ft 5 in). This booster must comply with Spanish regulations. Please let us know if we can help you.

FOOD/DRINKS: feel free to bring some snack or sandwich with you, we can allow some time for it in a superb spot. Water is a must, one liter per person makes it.

WEATHER: it is highly advisable to check the local weather forecast to dress accordingly. Gloves and coats are necessary in most of the mornings. The sierras are surprisingly cold, but keep in mind temperatures can vary up to 20 ºC (36 F) within a day.

HIKING POLES: we can provide you with them if you ask us in advance.

PAYMENT: you can pay locally at the end of the hike in cash.
